Snoyman Visit Part 2: The South

August 13, 2009

In the South, we were mostly in Jerusalem. Lots of shopping and walking and driving around. We took trips to Kever Rachel and Ma'arat Hamachpela (Tomb of Rachel and Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron, but we could only access the very outer rooms with tomb monuments since the Arabs have control of the graves and tombs themselves. We toured the City of David which is right outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. They had neat excavations of David's Palace. We hiked Hezekiah's Tunnel, but since it's filled with water, Ima and Abba took me through the dry, narrow Cannanite Tunnel, which I walked on my own. The next day they went by themselves for the water hike and had a really fun time. They saw baby stalactites! We all had a lot of fun together as a family. I miss everyone so much already!
